From now on you will have access to BGBlitz versions earlier and don't have to wait for the next official release. You have the advantage for quicker access to features and bug fixes you have requested and I get feedback earlier, a classical win-win situation :)
02/19/2026 A beta of the next version 3.4 as version 3.3.9b.
Important: I made an error in beta version 3.3.1 so the database is incompatible with 3.4. You have to delete:- Windows: /users/your_account/.bgblitz/pdata
- MacOS: /Users/your_account/Library/Preferences/BGBlitz/pdata
- Linux: /home/your_account/.bgblitz/pdata
- TachiAI VI, a new AI. It is about 0.5 - 0.3 PR stronger (depending on ply), which is quite an achievement on that level. What does that mean? In 20 5-point matches, it plays
The first new superhuman BG-AI of this decade, available to everyone ;) . It is selected by default.NET ply AVG Median TA VI 3-ply 0.42 0.34 TA VI 4-ply 0.33 0.22 TA VI 5-ply 0.29 0.17

The position database has been completely redevelopped and is now fully integrated. The idea: you use a flashcard system
( more specifically, spaced repetition ) to train your understanding and the effort required to create cards is minimal.
When you analyse one of your matches, it takes just six mouse clicks to produce flashcards with all your mistakes.
It couldn't be easier...
Approximately 500 flash cards are included (usable in the Free Edition!). These include positions from the following classics:
- "Better Backgammon" by three-time world champion Tim Holland (tag #BB)
- "Backgammon for Profit" by Joe Dwek (Tag #BfP )
- "Paradoxes and Probibilities" by Barcly Cook (Tag #PaP )
- "New Ideas for Backgammon" by Kit Woolsey and Hal Heinrich (Tag #NiB; thanks to Bill Robertie for permission)
- Othellos Quizzes from 2019, 2022 und 2023 (tags #otl2019, ... further will follow)
- and a few positions from GammonOnline (Tag #BGO)
- Best moves
- Cube decisions
All flash cards can be selected using freely selectable tags. You can choose to "learn" or display "all flash cards", either for all cards or only for specific tags (e.g. with #cube all cube decisions).
If, for example, you only want cube decisions, select the tag #cube in the dialogue box.
So how does the generation work? You can simply generate flash cards under "Best Moves" or "Position Evaluation" in the action menu, just as you can easily generate a card with the XGID in the "Performance Coach" menu. The most common way is probably via the Analyzer.
Select from the action button "Add to Performance Coach",

The following dialogue box will then appear:
. You choose which player you want to create flashcards for, from which error level flashcards should be created and a tag to be added (#move and #cube are added automatically). I strongly recommend adding a personal tag here (I use #fb, for example) to train your own mistakes in a targeted manner.
Finally, you'll see the flash cards. Here is a "Best Move" card.
, Once you have selected a move, you can select the "Show Solution" button. You can add further moves with the (+) icon or use (5) to analyse the moves with 5-ply (default: 4-ply with TachiAI 6). When you click on "Show solution", you will see this:
Your move is marked with a blue star.
For cube decisions, the question looks like this:
and the solution looks like this:
Since this is all new, I would be extremely grateful for any feedback.
- There is now a scoreboard on the dashboard so that you can see the score more easily,

- an Isight trainer. What is Isight? It is a method of cube strategy in a running game, comparable to the well-known Keith Count. Why did I choose Isight?
The killer feature is that Isight also works in match play!

- A Bsight-Trainer. What is that? I found three improvements in Isight that bring about a 10% improvement in the benchmark without making it more complicated. A description is here
- Now the matches are stored in the database *with* the analysis. I use a new technology that has many advantages, makes other things easier and is lightning fast. The disadvantage is that only the first instance has full access, everyone else can only read.
- You can dwonload matches from Opengammon directly
- some other minor improvements (e.g. when entering 1..6 when using manual dice, the dice selection is initialized and the first dice number is entered) and
- BGBlitz is now also available in Finnish
- a few bugs have been fixed
As always, feedback is very welcome.
