Just double click the download and follow the instructions.
- Macintosh OS X:
For OS X Mountain Lion (10.8) and higher no additional software is needed.
For OS X Lion (10.7) make sure that Java is installed (10.6 Snow Leopard installed Java by default). If not already installed please install the original Apple Java from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US.
The installer is a disk image. Double click on BGBlitz_xyz.dmg after download
Drag the BGBlitz folder to any convenient folder.
If there is a security hint if you start BGBlitz the video shows what to do.
- Linux 2.6 or newer / FreeBSD :
make sure Java 1.6 or higher is installed. I recommend usage of Oracles Java or the OpenJDK.
Unzip the download and copy the BGBlitz folder to any convenient place.
Double click bgblitz.sh (if java is not in the path you might edit bgblitz.sh or just ask me for help)
BGBlitz is a multi-platform software. It should run on every platform, delivering a complete Java 1.6.0 (or better) environment. The tested environments are:
- Windows 7, 8.x and Windows 10
- Macintosh OS X 10.6 or newer
- Linux 2.6.x or newer
Any PC build in the last 8-10 years should suffice.
About 150 MB free memory and up to 150 MB of disk space are needed.
Naturally a faster CPU, more cores and more RAM never hurts (especially for 4 ply evaluation) ;-)
A resolution of 1024x768 is required but 1280x800 or more is recommended.
